Mind/ Body Connections: Physical And Mental Health Relationships

No one who lives in a functioning body can deny that there is relationship between the body and the mind they have to live with. When the body is in distress, the mind is also in distress, and both parts tell their person all about how they are feeling. The body sends its messages in the form of pain, and the mind sends its messages in the form of anxiety or paranoia. Both methods of communication are very effective in letting the person know something is wrong, but sometimes they are not so effective in saying what exactly the matter is. It is like a baby screaming: you know something needs to be done, just not what that something might be.

When a body is in nutritional balance and well exercised and rested, the messages it sends are pleasant. When the mind is content and has been allowed to stretch itself as it wants, the message it sends is contentment. When these two separate but equal parts of a person are in harmony, the person feels a sense of ease and happiness that is truly wonderful. These two integral parts of a person are really not so terribly separate after all.
