Your Health: Is Organic Really Better?
More and more people are switching to organic foods, but some are wondering is organic really better? The answer to that question is not so straightforward. Fruits and vegetables that are grown without synthetic fertilizers qualify as organic foods. Meat that comes from animals that have not been given hormones or antibiotics also qualify as organic food. Many health experts have raved for sometime about how organic foods are much better and safer for people. They say since organic foods contain no hormones or pesticides, they are much better to eat. These experts also claim that organic foods contain more vitamins and minerals and help reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
However, some other health experts say that benefits of eating organic foods can not be proven. In fact, some researchers say that eating organic foods may contain more natural toxins than regular food. That statement has not been proven either. The decision whether or not to buy organic foods really boils down to one’s personal preference. It really cannot be proven whether or not organic foods are better than regular foods. It is important to note that eating a diet that is filled with fruits, vegetables and lean meats is really what matters.
